Continuing NHS Healthcare

Continuing Healthcare is NHS-funded care which is provided over an extended period of time to meet any physical or mental health needs that have arisen as a result of disability, an accident or illness.

Allied is a leading independent provider of Continuing Healthcare and provides care on behalf of over 140 PCTs in England and five of the seven Welsh Local Health Boards.We have the capacity to handle multiple referrals across the full spectrum of health needs including palliative care, acquired brain injury, complex cases, respiratory conditions, paediatrics and mental health.

Our Continuing Healthcare service enables PCTs to transfer the management and delivery of healthcare packages with varying levels of complexity to the homecare environment.

Delivering Government Objectives

The development of Allied’s unique Continuing Healthcare service has contributed significantly to NHS trusts achieving their objectives as laid down by the Government in relation to arranging services to meet the needs of people who require continuing healthcare.

A Partnership Approach

The aim and purpose of our Continuing Healthcare service is to work in partnership with healthcare professionals and the extended multi disciplinary team to provide a safe and appropriate package of care for the client.

Our Experience of Complex Care Cases

We have managed and delivered complex care packages that represent the diverse range of our skills base. Many of these cases are ongoing and include such services as care of the elderly, assistance with supported living, complex paediatric care and palliative care.

Our Clinical and Training Expertise includes:

  • Enteral Nutrition
  • Symptom Control
  • Facilitating home ventilation and respiratory services covering a range of equipment complexities
  • Catheter management
  • Care of Skin Integrity

We work collaboratively with specialist nurses in the care of service users with conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Chronic Cardiac Disease and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Training can be designed and delivered to meet individual patients’ needs. In all instances this is managed by our highly skilled and fully qualified Case Managers.
